Initial Assessment

Initial Assessment - Explained

Not seen a Speech Pathologist before?

We normally recommend a report (1-2-hours) following the initial assessment, especially if the participant hasn’t engaged with an SP before. The initial assessment will cover their medical diagnoses/background information, NDIS goals, observations, and recommendations. This is particularly useful to put into a report for other allied health providers, paediatricians, and GP’s, as well as the OT as it gives us a baseline as to where the participant is, when we started seeing them. The report is not mandatory, but it is something we recommend.

Not seen an Occupational Therapist before?

We normally recommend an initial assessment (1.0-1.5-hours) and report (1.5-hours) if the participant hasn’t engaged with an OT before. The initial assessment report is particularly useful for other allied health providers, paediatricians, and GP’s, as well as the OT as it gives us a baseline as to where the participant is, when we started seeing them.
