What is a Functional Capacity Assessment?
A Functional Capacity Assessment is an in-depth occupational therapy evaluation that measures a participant’s ability to perform daily activities and tasks. It examines physical, cognitive, sensory, and social functioning to give a complete picture of how someone interacts with their environment and where they need support. We use standardised assessment tools, functional reviews, and evidence-based evaluation to build a thorough understanding of each participant’s needs
- The participant's functional needs and goals
- Specific areas where support is needed
- How disability impacts independence
- Supports and interventions that would help
- Changes in circumstances since the last plan
Our FCAs go beyond simple observations: we use standardised assessment tools, functional reviews, and evidence-based evaluations to build a comprehensive understanding of your unique needs. Our approach ensures the NDIS has all the information required to make informed funding decisions
Functional Capacity Assessments play a crucial role in your NDIS journey. These reports are not just paperwork – they’re powerful tools that can significantly impact your funding outcomes and the support you receive. An accurate, well-written, and client-centred FCA can make a substantial difference in the level of funding a participant receives. Your FCA serves as evidence that clearly demonstrates:
- Your current functional abilities across all daily activities
- Specific areas where you require support
- How your disability impacts your independence
- What supports and interventions you need to achieve your goals
- Changes in your circumstances since your last plan
